Back to School!

After a week and a half of playing hooky, Trey is back at school! He gave a big smile as soon as we pulled into the parking area for school.

At first, Trey was a little shy in his old classroom. We attribute part of this to the fact that he had been up late the night before and was probably a still a little tired from the trip. But he warmed up pretty quickly.

Trey is transitioning to the next class, Movement 2, this week! Hopefully all goes well with the transition.

Moving up!

Another graduation day for Trey is upon us... His school informs us that he will be moving to the Movement 2 class next week! Trey is moving up a little sooner than some of the children who are older than he is, but he is walking so well, and the teachers didn't want to separate him from his good friend Jake (they are the two Alpha males in the class).

Movement 2 isn't all that different than Trey's current class, Movement 1, but they spend more time outside (because there is no longer a formal morning nap time), and they also spend more time in lessons learning about colors, shapes, and letters.

Trey will likely spend a while in Movement 2, since most kids stay there until around their second birthday. We are sad to leave our friends and teachers in Movement 1, but we're excited to get to know a new class of teachers!

Virginian

Over the past week and a half, Trey has enjoyed an extended trip to Virginia. He has had the best time! Trey got to visit with lots of family and friends, and he even got a chance to swim with his little friends Martin McGrath and Matthew (and Kate) Feldmann. Trey loves Virginia, just as his parents do. I'm not sure he's going to recognize things when he gets home!

Once Trey's grandmother shares her pictures of Trey's adventures, we will post some here to share.

Trey cheering at the Astros game!

We went to the Astros game for Mother's Day. Trey had a great time!

Our first experience with Trey at the Astros game was a disaster. Trey was only about 4 months old, and he was scared of the crowd and the noise (very unlike him, because he has always loved being around people and lots of activity). But every time the crowd would cheer, he would start bawling!

This time was different, thankfully. Trey loved the game, and every time the crowd would cheer, Trey would join in, as shown below:

Because it was Mother's Day, Trey and Mommy got to run the bases after the game! Trey really enjoyed the wide open spaces. And for Mommy, a lifetime Astros fan, it was fun to be down on the field.

Slacker

Okay, I realize I have been fully disappointing you all on the blogging front. I promised more details about our Astros outing and still have not come through. But don't give up on me! More is to come, I promise.

Right now Trey is visiting his Edwards grandparents in Roanoke. By all accounts, he is having a grand time. Mommy misses her sweet little baby, but she is also enjoying a little peace and quiet at home. Also, since Mommy just started a new job, she's had a good opportunity to get organized in her new office and stay late to get up to speed on things.

Beach Baby

We just returned from a trip to the beach in Florida! It was Trey's first trip to the beach since he has become mobile. We had so much fun, it is hard to know where to even begin.

Trey had to get used to the sand and the water, but once he did, he had a great time! He had a great time splashing around in a little tidal pool that Daddy spotted, and he also loved floating around in the water.

We were in Florida for a wedding, and Trey was the only little one out of the entire group of guests. For that reason, he was a star. Although quite the handful, everyone loved seeing Trey and watching him run around having fun.

We stayed right on the beach, which was convenient for Trey's escapades. He loved the seagulls at the beach; when he spotted one, he would point at it and run after it, trying to catch it (he was never successful). He also saw a couple pelicans, and when we saw some sculpted ones hanging inside the airport on the way home, Trey spotted those as well!

There was a very nice fisherman who let Trey hold a small fish he was using for live bait! Trey didn't quite know what to make of it. He was very interested in the small creature until it started squirming in his hands, and after that, little Trey was terrified of the fish.

All in all, we had a great time. We can't wait for the next beach adventure!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all! Trey celebrated Mommy's second Mother's Day by having lunch with Mama C, Aunt Kacie, Uncle Ryan (who came all the way from Austin just for lunch), Mommy and Daddy. Then, after a quick nap, Mommy and Daddy took Trey to the Astros game, where everyone had a wonderful time! Trey loved clapping every time the crowd cheered, and he and Mommy even got to run the bases after the game! We'll publish a full report when Mommy has some time to fully devote to the story.
